For June’s Social Media Breakfast we discussed Google+ for Business in detail. This breakfast featured two presenters that were experts in using Google+ as a marketing tool AND the implications for using a Google + account for your business. There is no denying it – the growth in Google+ in the past few years and integration into other products such as local, YouTube and Gmail makes it hard for all of us to ignore.
The first featured speaker was Marc Pitman from Fundraisingcoach.com who talked about how his business’ Google+ page and particular Google+ features have influenced the way he connects with his clients. Marc continued to discuss how Google+ is significantly impacting search and what that means for nonprofit organizations that are looking to gain donors and advocate for their cause. Marc also discussed some great new Google + features like Google Hangouts, that enable users to come together to engage in group conversations through video.
Katie Conroy also gave us a step by step guide to Google+ for Business. She talked about the basics of local search, how to do an advanced search profile optimization, ways to enhance a website for local search and how using Google+ can help you build a local search campaign. Katie provided great insight into how to correctly build your Google + profile and how not to make common mistakes that could hurt your business’ local search reputation and placement. One great bit of advice: be consistent and make sure that your Google+ profile has your business name, address and phone number.
